In the Heat of the Saison – We Will Surely Repay You, Cain…

A flyer published during the ‘open season’ when the Yishuv establishment was actively working against the Etzel. The establishment is derogatorily referred to as “Cain,” for betraying its brothers. The establishment was silent in the face of the Holocaust and in the face of the British oppresive anti-Jewish policies, but when the Etzel rose up to fight for freedom and for the Jewish people it mobilized its forces and its funds to attacking, betraying, and killing the freedom fighters. This is not the way of the likes of great leaders like Theodore Herzl or George Washington, but the way of fascists. One day “Cain” will pay for its betrayal of its fellow Jews.

There Will Not be a Civil War

Jews everywhere are concerned, not with their own situation, but with the destruction of their brethren in Europe. European Jews could have been saved by being brought to Eretz Israel if only the British oppressors were not keeping them out. Because of this the youth of Eretz Israel is prepared to go to war with the British. The Yishuv is also concerned that a civil war could break out. The Etzel will not submit to blackmail from other Jews, but still it will not raise arms against fellow Jews. The fight is not for war and bloodshed, but for freedom. The Etzel at first did not wage a propaganda campaign against any Jewish elements. The Etzel is not fighting for political power, and will not raise arms against fellow Jews. It will not start a civil war, no matter the provocation. But it will not agree to eliminate itself either.

On the Deportation of the Prisoners of the Underground

More than two hundred and fifty members of the Etzel were deported from Eretz Israel by the British, an act comparable with the Turkish response to the NILI and to the Nazis. Like the Nazis it is a precursor to far worse repression. But like the Nazis and other repressive regimes, it will fail to terrorize the population and stop its revolt against oppression for freedom.

The Episode of the Western Wall

Every Yom Kippur Jews congregate at the Western Wall to pray. But for several years the British Mandatory Government has sent soldiers to disturb the prayers and even assault the worshippers for no reason. This way they show the Jews how they are slaves on their own land. If this barbaric practice continues the Jews must rise up against the government that orders it.
