Face-to-Face

Begin criticizes Ben-Gurion that he focuses on popularizing himself too much, he uses falsehood and has been “disguising the truth,” and is a man who rejects extremism as he did with “No Massada and no Vichy.” Begin accuses the Minister of Security of also “rejecting extremes” as he rejected the option of war and the option of peace. Begin disagrees and states that peace with Israel’s enemies is definitely possible eventually and that the people should not be ignorant when it comes to the issue of war with the enemies, as Egypt, Iraq, and Syria have explicitly shown their preparations of weapons of annihilation against Israel. Begin expands on strategy during war and “opportune moments.”

What are the Facts Behind Jerusalem’s Two Terrible Hours

Begin discusses his frustration with the Government’s responses to a recent attack in Jerusalem. First Begin criticizes Pinchas Lavon, the Minister of Defense. He explains Lavon’s mistakes and what he could have done to prevent the surprise attack. Additionally, Begin speaks about Moshe Sharret’s leadership and how the Government is killing its own nation in a sovereign way. Then Begin shifts to address multiple opportune moments Israel could have liberated more of the Homeland and ended “senseless bloodshed.” Begin concludes by comparing Israel’s Government to the Greek character Calipides.

Mr. Ben Gurion…and a Matter of ‘Fraud and Deception’

Begin writes about David Ben Gurion’s attempt to change the electoral system to strengthen Mapai. He explains that Ben Gurion hopes to change the electoral system from proportional representation to the constituency system. Begin speaks about both of these systems and acknowledges that there has yet been an election system that has the perfect combination of justice and utility. He speaks about the democratic electoral systems in both England and the United States. Begin shifts to criticize Ben Gurion’s desire to create a two-party government. He speaks about Ben Gurion being a Marxist. Begin concludes saying that for Israel’s future, Mapai’s regime needs to be weakened.

The Time Has Come For Action

Begin writes about how the Anglo-American security plan threatens Israel’s future. He first mentions the rivalry between England and America regarding power in the Middle East. Begin explains that they have an agreed plan for Israel. Begin shifts to talk about Moshe Sharett’s determination to make peace with Israel’s enemies. Sharett involved the British and Americans, which led to the joint Anglo-American security plan. Begin continues to explain and argue against the security plan. Then Begin speaks about threats from America to refuse Israel aid, the “silver pistol.” He concludes with speaking about the recent loss of three youth at Mevo’ot Betar and Mevo’ot Betar’s song, “‘we shall not move from here.'” His final argument is that that song is an old song and the new song is “‘We shall move from here –forward; we shall never retreat.'”

A Friendly Warning to Mr. Dulles

Begin compares and contrasts the America-Guatemala-Czech triangle to the Israel-Arab-American triangle. He first speaks about America’s active defense against Guatemala’s relationship with Czechoslovakia. When speaking about political asylum for a Guatemalan politician, he also shares that “Jewish opinion, both here and overseas, will not be able to remain indifferent if evil befalls [on] one of our people’s best friends.” Begin then speaks about the America-Guatemala-Czech and the Israel-Arab-American triangles in regards to weaponry, population differences, and possibility of attack. Begin speaks about communism verses capitalism. He shares that “Disraeli once said that nations are ruled either by force or by tradition.” His final point focuses on America’s role as a leader for the free world and that it is problematic for America to guide by force.
