Bid to Muzzle Knesset Over Cairo Summit

A correspondent from the Jewish Herald quotes Begin drawing attention to the Government tendency to attempt to muzzle Parliamentary debates on the matters of vital public concern by the expedient of making a statement from the rostrum of the Knesset—and refusing to have any further discussion. Begin is quoted specifically speaking about Nasser’s intentions to annihilate Israel. He concludes that the Government has prevented the Opposition from discussing Nasser’s plans. Begin concludes saying that if the Government does not speak up, the Opposition will.

German Scientists Helping Egypt

A statement about the phenomenon of German scientists helping Egypt to develop weapons for use against Israel. Germany has dragged its feet and not taken any action against these scientists, which leads begin to conclude that at the least the German government is tacitly acquiescing to their activities. This is especially egregious after the Holocaust. The free world must pressure Germany to take action against the scientists in Egypt.

A telegram to the American League for a Free Palestine. Begin did not issue a statement about his trip to America. A reported must have fabricated the statement, possibly with malicious intent. The ALFP could clarify Begin’s true position.

The Real Danger Facing Israel

Begin writes about the threat Egypt poses on Israel’s security because of its development of weapons of mass destruction, with the assistance of German scientists. Begin first speaks about how these German scientists assist Nasser. Additionally, if Germany passes a law against German scientists in Egypt, it will not apply to those already there. Begin reassures his readers, though, by explaining that Israel will win in a battle against Egypt, even if Egypt is supported by a United Arab front. However, he does express concern about Israel only having conventional weapons to counter non-conventional weapons. He shifts to speak about how the Israeli Government has not acted against Germany and its scientists assisting Egypt. Begin concludes that the Government’s lack of action may lead to Herut demanding immediate elections, and not wait two more years.

Begin Accuses U.S. of Deluding the Arabs

After the United States called for Israel to absorb Arab refugees, Begin criticized America for leading the Arabs to believe there was the possibility they would return to Israel. Begin saw this as an act of self-preservation and not a position open to compromise.
